Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Monday following an incident involving a rideshare driver in Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded to a call just after midnight reporting a disturbance. After investigating at the scene, police determined that the actor had physically assaulted the driver and allegedly made criminal threats during the encounter. Authorities said the driver did not suffer visible injuries and did not require medical treatment.
Sutherland was taken into custody and booked on felony charges, according to inmate records obtained by The Cut. He was later released after posting $50,000 bail. Court records indicate that he is expected to appear before a judge on February 2, when the charges will be formally addressed.
Police have not released additional details about what led to the confrontation, and the case remains under review by prosecutors. As with any ongoing legal matter, Sutherland is presumed innocent unless proven otherwise in court. A spokesperson for the actor did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
